COMMODITY MARKET TREND-13 May 2014


BASE METAL WRAP: Nickel climbed for a sixth day to trade near a 27-month high as Vale SA said operations remain halted at a plant in New Caledonia, further crimping supply that’s been hit by Indonesia’s ban on ore exports.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate traded near a three-day high amid speculation that crude stockpiles declined a second week in the U.S., the world’s biggest oil consumer. Brent was steady in London.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold held above the lowest level in more than a week as investors weighed the dollar’s strength against escalating tension in Ukraine.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK-13 May 2014

INDIAN BENCHMARK extend gains and scale new highs as the exit polls showed that the BJP-led NDA would be forming the government at the centre. Amtek Auto in focus after the board said it will meet on May 16 to consider issue of equity or equity linked securities through various means for raising of funds.

FURTHER, Tata Steel is planning to raise $1.24 bn overseas through the sale of bonds by one of its Singapore entities. Finolex Industries has plunged over 9% after reporting 29% year on year decline in net profit at Rs 56 crore for the quarter fourth quarter ended March 31, 2014 (Q4), due to higher raw material and finance cost.

Trend in FII flows: The FIIs were net buyers of Rs 1217cr in the cash segment on Monday while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of Rs. 92cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS end at record highs… Nifty ends above 7,000.

INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS end at new record highs in anticipation that the exit polls slated for release later today would signal business-friendly Bharatiya Janata Party winning majority in the general elections.

Further, Torrent Pharma has reported 120 percent jump in net profit for the quarter ended March 31 to Rs 244 crore, as against Rs 111 crore in the year-ago period. Bharti Airtel is planning to raise $2 billion throughout the year to refinance its existing debt.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 7020 and above this 7070. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 6860 and next support will be 6750.

GAIL India stock up 3% on expansion plans
Shares of GAIL India Ltd was up 3% on report that the company plans to invest in upstream hydrocarbon assets overseas. The company plans to spend $500-700 million to pick up minority stakes in US shale assets and also some conventional hydrocarbon projects in Africa.

Corporation Bank tumbles after weak Q4 earnings

Corporation Bank fell 4.68% after net profit declined 88.3% to Rs 41.57 crore on 8.6% growth in total income to Rs 5032.62 crore in Q4 March 2014 over Q4 March 2013.

Syndicate Bank to raise Rs. 2,650 cr in FY15

Syndicate Bank plans to raise fresh capital of Rs 2,650 crore in the current financial year. Of this, Rs 1,500 crore will be equity capital and the amount will be raised via Basel-III complaint Tier-II bonds.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals FY13-14 revenue up 30%

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited FY 13-14 revenues stood at Rs.4, 184 crores, up by 30% from Rs.3, 212 crores in FY 12-13. EBITDA for FY 13-14 stood at Rs. 952 crores up by 37% from Rs. 693 crores during the same period last year.

INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK-12 May 2014


INDIAN BENCHMARK open slightly higher but further gains are likely to be capped on profit taking after sharp gains last week. Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited for FY 13-14 revenues stood at Rs.4, 184 crores, up by 30% from Rs.3, 212 crores in FY 12-13.

FURTHER, Syndicate Bank will be raising US$350mn in the next few weeks through the medium term note route in the overseas market. United Spirits is trading lower by 0.45% in an otherwise strong market after the company said it would sell Whyte & Mackay Group, a manufacturer of whisky, to the Philippines-based brandy manufacturer Emperador Inc for £430 million.

Trend in FII flows: The FIIs were net buyers of Rs 1268cr in the cash segment on Friday while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net sellers of Rs. 75cr, as per the provisional figures released by the NSE.

BASE METAL WRAP: Nickel extended gains to the highest price in two years on speculation that supplies of the metal used to make stainless steel will be tighter and prices will rise further in coming months.

ENERGY WRAP:
Brent advanced for the first time in three days amid concern that increased tension in Ukraine may disrupt oil supplies from Russia, the world’s biggest energy exporter. West Texas Intermediate was steady in New York.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP:
Gold declined for a fifth day as the euro weakened against the dollar, and on speculation that the Federal Reserve will press on with reducing monetary stimulus.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS close at record highs.


INDIAN BENCHMARK ended at record closing highs and were gripped by buying frenzy on hopes that the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party would attain a comfortable majority in the elections.

Further, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has posted results for the fifth quarter ended 31st March 2014.The net loss for the quarter stood at Rs73.6 crores. Its revenue stood at Rs2467 crores. NIIT Technologies FY2014 revenues up 14% over the previous year to Rs. 2305 Crores and operating profits improved by 7% to Rs. 351 Crores. PAT for the year was Rs. 230 Crores.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 6870 and above this 6900. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 6630 and next support will be 6580.

Eicher Motors Q4 net profit at Rs. 1.39bn
Eicher Motors has posted consolidated net profit of Rs. 1391.20 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2014 as compared to Rs. 979.40 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2013. Total Income has increased from Rs. 17687.40 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2013 to Rs. 19795.60 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2014.

FTIL slumps after CMD remanded to police custody

Glenmark Pharma slips after Q4 results

BASE METAL WRAP: Nickel rallied to a two-year high, exceeding $20,000, as a plant closure in New Caledonia by Vale (VALE5) SA, the second-biggest producer, fueled global supply concerns already exacerbated by Indonesia’s ore-export ban.

ENERGY WRAP: West Texas Intermediate headed for its first weekly advance since April as crude stockpiles shrank for the first time in more than a month in the U.S., the world’s biggest oil consumer. Brent was steady in London. Natural gas futures fell the most in 10 weeks after a government report showed a bigger-than-forecast U.S. inventory increase.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold futures declined for a third straight day as gains in equities curb demand for the precious metal as an alternative investment.

INDIAN BENCHMARK remains range-bound tracking mixed global cues. Bharat Forge announced that its German Subsidiary, Bharat Forge Aluminumtechnik GmbH & Co KG has won a multi-year contract worth Euro 250 million from a German OEM for supply of suspension components.

FURTHER, Tata Motors' Singapore-based subsidiary TML Holdings has raised $300 million (Rs 1,800 crore) through a debt securities issue. Bharti Airtel plans annual capital expenditure of $1 billion in the next few years and will focus on deepening investments in 17 African countries rather than entering new markets.

INDIAN BENCHMARKS ends flat as caution prevails

 
INDIAN EQUITY BENCHMARKS ended flat, amid a range bound session, as investors turned cautious and booked profits at higher levels in intra-day trades.

Further, Union Bank reported a nearly 27 percent fall in its net profit at Rs 578.88 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014. Total revenue of the bank stood at Rs 8,444.91 crore for the (January-March) quarter in 2014, as against Rs 7,500.59 crore in the same period last fiscal. Aditya Birla Chemicals has reported sales turnover of Rs 281.74 crore and a net profit of Rs 0.74 crore for the quarter ended Mar '14. Other income for the quarter was Rs 2.80 crore.

The crucial resistance for Nifty is now seen at 6680 and above this 6720. Support for the immediate term is now placed at 6630 and next support will be 6600.

Union Bank posts 27% fall in Q4 net profit at Rs 578.88 cr
Union Bank reported a nearly 27 percent fall in its net profit at Rs 578.88 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014. Total revenue of the bank stood at Rs 8,444.91 crore for the (January-March) quarter in 2014, as against Rs 7,500.59 crore in the same period last fiscal.

Shasun Pharma up 10% on Morgan Stanley stake buy
Shasun Pharmaceuticals is locked in upper circuit for second straight day, up 10% at Rs 165 after Morgan Stanley Asia  bought nearly one per cent stake in the company for a total consideration of Rs 5.9 crore.

Aditya Birla Ch standalone Mar '14 sales at Rs 281.74 crore
Aditya Birla Chemicals has reported a standalone sales turnover of Rs 281.74 crore and a net profit of Rs 0.74 crore for the quarter ended Mar '14. Other income for the quarter was Rs 2.80 crore. For the quarter ended Mar 2013 the standalone sales turnover was Rs 211.80 crore and net profit was Rs 7.85 crore, and other income Rs 2.14 crore.

Oil India buys 50% stake in Russian oil block
Oil India Ltd has acquired 50% stake in an oil block in Russia for $ 85 mn. The deal includes a three-stage payout including $ 35 mn in cash up-front, $ 45 million in exploration and development spending and a performance bonus of up to $ 5 million.
